WWE Releases on September 21, 2023: A New Chapter Begins

The world of professional wrestling is no stranger to surprises and changes, and September 21, 2023, marked another significant milestone in the industry. The WWE announced a series of releases as part of their ongoing evolution and the new parent company TKO that was recently inked.

Among the names that were let go were Mustafa Ali, Rick Boogs, Aliyah, Top Dolla of Hit Row, Tegan Nox, Emma, Riddick Moss, Elias, Shelton Benjamin, Dolph Ziggler, Dana Brooke, Aliyah, Mansoor, Mace, and Quincy Elliot.

Mustafa Ali, known for his incredible in-ring skills and charismatic presence, had been a fan favorite for years. He has been critical of his creative plans in his recent run going so far as to ask to be released from his contract so that he may pursue a career somewhere he may have better control of his career. Rick Boogs was a massive loss to the fans, with his electrifying guitar solos, he brought a unique energy to the roster that isn't your average cookie cutter gimmick.

The release of Top Dolla, one of the members of the popular group Hit Row, was recently re-signed along side many other members of Hit Row. Swerve Strickland was the only member that had signed a contract elsewhere at the time they were brought back in. Top Dolla took part in WWE's Most Wanted Treasures a reality series on A&E where the host and other legends and WWE superstars embark on a treasure hunt for WWE's most legendary artifacts from the past around the world and try to strike a deal to acquire them for the museum of WWE artifacts.

The departures of Aliyah, Tegan Nox and Emma were met with mixed emotions. Both had shown immense potential and had a devoted following. However, the WWE is known for constantly reshaping its roster to create new opportunities for rising stars.

Riddick "Madcap" Moss, Elias, Shelton Benjamin, and Dolph Ziggler were all seasoned veterans who had made significant contributions to the WWE over the years. Their releases signaled a shift in the company's direction, as they sought to create space for fresh talent.

Dana Brooke, Mansoor, Mace, and Quincy Elliot were also among those released. Each had their unique strengths and abilities, but never really got over with the WWE Universe.

While these releases may come as a surprise to many, it's important to remember that change is an integral part of the wrestling industry. The WWE constantly seeks to reinvent itself and provide new and exciting content for its loyal fan base. It goes without saying that some of these releases are exciting for the wrestling community as a whole as it allows other promotions to absorb some of these amazingly talented performers and refresh their product for their communities. NXT releases are due this evening around 5PM Eastern Standard Time. Check back for updates.
